A few months ago, a young client came in suffering from a concussion…or atleast that is what their MD, physio, and chiro were treating them for. Leaned back in a chair and hit their head. Missed over two weeks of classes. Sever headaches, nausea, dizziness. Medication wouldnt touch the pain they were feeling. Seriously less then 30 seconds of assessment and I already knew it was more then a concussion. “What happened the week before your concussion?” I asked. “Nothing” they replied. “Yes” i said. “Something happened. Were you ran into during your practice or game? Your whole body is twisted”. “Oh!” They replied. ” someone ran into me at bball and I had the wind knocked out of me. I was really sick for about ten minutes. That was four days before the concussion”.
Well….that would explain why her right clavicle was sitting inferior and ant at the manubrium. You can imagine the upper two ribs. Her C1 was rotated superior and ant on the right side as well. Her lateral lower right ribs were all compressed into each other and the L SI JT was out of alignment. We did the slowest, most gentle, most beautiful release you have ever seen. Sternoclavicular ligs melted. Subclavius was like pudding. Gently worked around anterior bodies of C1 and had it slide right into my fingers where it belonged. We even had time to create room between the ribs for her again. I know this sounds funny, but before this class I would have missed 90% of this. It is so incredibly beautiful and so INSPIRING! I have always loved my job…but now I am in love with my job . Definitely a plus to anyone who is focusing on therapy. Trust me, your clients will thank you!
I just want you to know that I have found this the most inspiring technique I have taken in my 14 years as an RMT! I am happier and more comfortable as a therapist then I have ever been. My clients are raving about the technique and their results. The connective tissue work is absolutely beautiful, whether it’s on the ligaments, tendons, or fascia. To watch some of these dysfunctions just fade away is so rewarding!!!
